Scholarship Opportunities

Diane Goethals Memorial Scholarship

* Administered by the Community Foundation of Greater Rochester. Please note that the Community Foundation is responsible for administering the scholarship and the selection of the winners. All questions should be directed to the Foundation. Please follow all rules and submission dates to be considered.

Since 2007, RSC has given away over $35,000 in student scholarships!

Eligibility: Graduating seniors who have been a presence with Rochester Soccer Club as a player, volunteer, coach and/or referee in our RSC Recreational or Michigan Stars Lightning programs. Please be sure to share your history with our club. Preference will be given to current participants.

 

Award: $500 scholarship (8 scholarships awarded to the most qualified candidates whose home schools are Rochester, Rochester Adams, Stoney Creek and Avondale. Consideration will be given to students attending the listed high schools, along with those who attend private schools, charter schools, international academies or are homeschooled but reside in the eligible districts.)

 

Background: Funds for this scholarship are provided by Rochester Soccer Club, a non-profit organization formed in 1978, offering recreation, development, travel and elite soccer programs. This scholarship honors Diane Goethals (1967-2019). Diane was the RSC Office Manager for over fifteen years and battled cancer for the last six of those years. Diane gave back to her community tirelessly, and her faith, positivity and humor are always remembered by those who knew her. Diane was a proud and loving wife and mother. She is survived by her husband, Kevin, and their four children.

MSYSA Scholarship

Each winter, MSYSA awards six (6) college scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. Scholarships are awarded based on academics, volunteer/community activities, and the ways in which applicants have given back to the game of soccer. Recipients must have been registered with MSYSA for a minimum of 6 seasons.

Financial Assistance Scholarship for Michigan Stars Lightning

Rochester Soccer Club offers a limited number of Michigan Stars Lightning Travel Soccer Scholarships for families who are experiencing a financial hardship. These are partial scholarships and recipients are required to volunteer with RSC to help defray the cost. Scholarships are open to members of the club who have been with us for more than one year.
